Master Class - Wheel Throwing & Handbuilding: Goddess Sculptural Vase Workshop - 6 Weeks

Please be sure to review our Studio and Breakage Policy before attending your class.

About this class

Craft a sculptural Goddess vase made of collective vessels and figurines inspired by passion, movement, fluidity, and stubbornness using mixed techniques.

The Goddess of Your Center: Sculptural Vase Workshop
Unleash your creativity with a mix of pottery wheel, handbuilding, magic, and the guidance of the four elements. A mixed technique workshop combining pottery wheel and hand-building methods. Together with your instructor Gaby, you'll be able to play and reconnect with your inner self through the four elements in our cozy top floor studio of our Richmond location.

Class 1:  Throwing different pots and shapes on the wheel, connecting them, squeezing, playing, and feeling the energy of the earth, fire, and water.

Class 2: Continued material exploration with handbuilding pots, shapes and sample tiles.

Class 3 and 4: Sculpting and connecting the pieces into a human figure, adding all the details. We play with air.

Class 5: Painting by hand with engobes and underglazes, carving, and adding details with clay transfer designs.

Class 6: Closing the class, admiring our goddess, and performing an abundance ritual with a surprise guest. (This class will be held with or without the goddess being fired, depending on dryness of each piece and the firing process.)

This class is 6 consecutive weeks of 3 hour classes at the listed start date, time, and location where you'll learn from our expert instructor, tailored for your own skill level. Each week of instruction will cover a different part of the ceramic creation process:

Instructor - Gabriela

Owner and Founder Gabriela Mariana Angulo is a ceramic artist and educator. With a degree in Ceramics and Visual Arts from Artes del Fuego College in her native Argentina, she subsequently became a professor, teaching pottery for 10 years. She sold her creations throughout Argentina, earning a stellar reputation as a well-known and highly respected ceramist with a thriving business.

Moving to Toronto in 2010, she faced initial struggles due to her lack of English proficiency. Despite this challenge, she was determined to learn and enrolled in language classes while her daughter attended preschool programs. She persisted until she could effectively communicate with others.

After a couple of years, when she felt confident in her language skills, she began sharing the art of pottery and artistic expression with her daughter's classmates. Her love and passion for the craft inspired her to establish Clay With Me, initially operating from her kitchen.

Every day, Gaby reminds us that we pursue this path out of love and conviction. She infuses pottery with fun and unexpected elements, fostering optimism for the possibilities that lie ahead for us all.
